Parents' FAQ
What do the children do between competition rounds?
They do not sit in a hotel room. There are masterclasses with international teachers, groups from all over the world to watch, and guided tours in Berlin. Even a competition day has a programme, and our escort is with the group.
Where does the group stay and who shares a room?
All TANZOLYMP participants stay at the official hotel at Alexanderplatz in central Berlin, which is the organiser's own requirement. We build the rooming list together with the teaching staff, by age and by who knows whom.
Who is my child competing against?
The competition is split into four age divisions: 8-12, 13-15, 16-18 and 19-25. In classical and modern there is a separate bracket for state and professional schools and another for private schools. A private school is judged against schools like it.
When do we need to decide, and what is needed from us in advance?
Festival entries close on 15 December 2026, and everything is settled with the organiser by 15 January 2027. In practice the group decides during autumn 2026. From you we need a clean video recording of the choreography, and the rest of the paperwork is on us.
