About the trip
The group takes an international stage on the shore of Lake Ohrid, a UNESCO World Heritage site, alongside groups from all over the world. Six nights, touring days around the lake and in Skopje, and back in Israel before Seder night.
Itinerary

Flight and arrival in Ohrid
Flight from Tel Aviv to Skopje, private coach to Ohrid and a first evening on the lakefront promenade.

Festival opening
A walk through the stone lanes of the old town, technical coordination with the production and the opening event in the evening.

Stage day
Samuel's Fortress and the church of St. John at Kaneo in the morning, and then the group on the festival stage.

Sveti Naum and Galicica
The panoramic road through Galicica National Park and Sveti Naum monastery above the lake springs.

Festival closing day
Plaosnik and the church of St. Clement in the morning, then the other groups perform and the closing event.

Parents' FAQ
How do we get to Ohrid?
We fly from Tel Aviv to Skopje and continue by private coach that carries only our group, about three hours to Ohrid. The kids are never on their own. The school staff and our escort are with them from Tel Aviv until they walk into the hotel.
Is this a competition? Will my daughter come home with a medal?
No, and that is on purpose. Ohrid is a performance festival: every group presents a 10-12 minute programme in front of an audience and alongside groups from all over the world, with no scoring and no ranking. What the kids bring home is real international stage experience.
Does this clash with Passover?
No. The trip leaves on 14 April and lands back in Israel on 20 April, before Seder night. The festival itself runs from 15 to 18 April, inside the school break.
My daughter is 12, is she too young for this?
The festival sets no age limit at all, and children's and youth groups are explicitly welcome. The dancers share rooms by a rooming list the school approves in advance, and the staff and our escort stay in the same hotel. Breakfast and dinner are included, and it is worth sending pocket money for lunch and souvenirs.
