Parents' FAQ
My daughter is 12. Will she be competing against 18 year olds?
The festival has no age brackets, groups are judged by dance style. There is no elimination, every group performs each evening, and there is a separate award for groups up to age 13 plus individual awards for young dancers. It is first a festival with a big stage, and only then a competition.
Can we as parents come along and watch the performances?
Yes, and it is one of the nicest things about this festival. Parents travel with the group, stay in the same hotel, join the excursions and watch all the performances. Details for joining come through the school's management.
What about food? Is kosher or a special diet possible?
Breakfasts and dinners are included. The organiser in Prague arranges catering from a kosher restaurant on advance request, and also handles special diet requests. We collect the requests and pass them on by mid April.
What do we need to prepare in advance, and by when?
A valid passport, a doctor's certificate of fitness to dance, a parental consent form and a signed registration form. The rooming list and diet requests close in mid April, music files are submitted by the end of May. We send an orderly checklist with reminders and collect everything through the school's management.
