Parents' FAQ
How many school days will my child miss?
The competition runs 19 to 21 February 2027 and there is no school break around those dates. The trip leaves on 17 February and returns on 23 February, which means about five school days out. We issue the full schedule in advance so you can arrange it with the school early.
What do the kids do on competition days when they are not on stage?
The competition sits inside Danzainfiera, Europe's biggest dance fair, with 14 pavilions, shows and auditions running all day. Our ticket covers every fair day, and the dancers move around it with the school staff and our escort.
Does the group need a federation membership or competition experience?
No. The competition is open to dancers of all nationalities from age 6, and we register the group with the organisers ourselves. There is also age flexibility inside a group, so a mixed team can compete without being broken up.
What should we pack for February, and what about food?
February in Florence is roughly 5 to 13 degrees and can be wet, so a warm coat, a waterproof jacket and comfortable walking shoes, alongside rehearsal gear and costumes. Breakfast and dinner are included at the hotel every day, and lunches are picked up on the go, at the fair or in town.
